Michael Jackson Memorial Concert Headed to Detroit
When news of music icon Michael Jackson’s untimely passing rocked the international scene just weeks ago, fans around the world looked for ways to honor him.
SGI Productions, a Michigan based company who specializes in live events began quickly putting together such a way to honor him and has been working around the clock to ensure its success.
The show is called “Michael Lives! The Michael Jackson Tribute Concert” and will feature a wide variety of talent from the Detroit area, ranging from award-winning illusionist Aaron Balcom, to singers, dancers, impersonators and more. With a special performance by local celebrity impersonator Rico West.
“When I got the phone call from California telling me that Michael Jackson had passed away, I immediately knew this was the way to honor the man that had taught me everything about the art of performance” said producer and performer Rico West. “Michael had meant so much to me from the time I was a child up until present day… This is the only way I know how to say goodbye.
During Rico’s part of the show, you can expect to see beautiful dancers, great choreography, touching tributes from local artists, and ton’s of special effects as he recreates the legendary performances that made the Michael Jackson, the King Of Pop!
The event will take place on Saturday, August 29th, 2009, which would have been Michael’s 51st birthday at the Allen Park Auditorium, 16850 Southfield Road in Allen Park, MI. The show will start at 7:00PM and is scheduled to run approximately two hours.
Tickets are $5.00 for general admission and $10.00 for VIP, which entitles ticket holders to early admission, preferred seating, as well as a meet and greet and other benefits.
